Now that July has come to a close, I look back on all the
momentous events that it held and I cannot help but smile.
This month finally saw the release of Essex Emerging Creative Writers book. For
the past 8 month, TG Trouper and I have been engaging with local Essex Schools
to motivate and inspire the next generation of creative writers, putting their
work together in this book all in aid of the NSPCC. It away
so great to see the cumulative of our hard work coming together,
producing something that was pretty fantastic - in my eyes anyway
hehe.
TG Trouper and I then started the month with a bang after being invited onto
BBC Essex radio to talk about our books, our work with the Children of Essex
and our fundraising in aid of the NSPCC. The whole thing was amazing, getting
to talk live with the brilliant Akylah Rodriguez in the studio was exciting and
an experience I will never forget.
Then, not three days after, we were featured on Brentwood’s PhoenixFM radio,
alongside three of the talented Children of Essex - Ella, Isabella and Molly.
They spoke about themselves and read out their work, watching the children
speak out so confidently, and seeing their proud parents really did make the
whole experience worth while.
Of course, what followed next was the main event, our Meet Essex Amazing
authors event, held in Braintree which not only showcased some of the talented
authors of Essex, but further the Creative Children themselves! Bringing the
while experience to an end.
There is no rest of the wicked however! TG Trouper and I are already on the
path planning our next event and schools have already been contacted to see if
we can find some more creative thinkers in Essex, furthering our reach to other
towns and villages.
This is all in between doing our usual meet and greet events and book fairs,
making it a very busy month indeed! I am thoroughly exhausted!
August is set to be a quieter one, giving me time to work on my next two books
and spending some quality time with my children. All ready for the chaos come
September when I am back doing my day job in the week and meeting all the
interesting people we get to see at our book events at the weekend.
I will hopefully have a new book ready for you guys soon!
Wish me luck!
C. Osborn
